Meet our Founder, Vicki Yadav

Meet Vicki, the brains (and heart) behind Your Teacher Village. She’s an Assistant Head Teacher, EYFS Leader, and all-round education enthusiast with over 15 years of experience — which is a fancy way of saying she’s lived the highs, the lows, and those “is it really only Tuesday?” moments of school life.

The idea was first born during Vicki’s maternity leave, when she realised something big: while teachers were drowning in responsibility, the practical, realistic support they actually needed was nowhere to be found. Instead of shrugging and making another cup of tea, she rolled up her sleeves and started building it herself.

What began as Primary Steps has since grown into Your Teacher Village — a community built on the belief that teachers shouldn’t have to go it alone. Now, Vicki works alongside brilliant expert teachers to create CPD and mentoring that’s research-backed, realistic, and (most importantly) usable in real classrooms.

Her mission is simple: to make sure teachers feel supported, confident, and never like they’re facing it all alone.

Because it takes a village to support a teacher — and Vicki’s on a mission to build exactly that.

The Values That
Shape Us

  • Two women smiling illustration

    Respect

Every educator deserves to feel valued and heard. Respect isn’t just polite, it’s the bedrock of trust, collaboration, and a community that really works.

  • Two women with colorful hair and dresses smiling and chatting while holding drinks.

    Passion

We’re endlessly passionate about teaching and learning (the good, the messy, and the magical bits). That energy fuels everything we do — and we hope it sparks the same fire in you.

  • Pink coffee mug with orange flowers and purple centers, filled with a hot beverage.

    Openness

We believe in honesty, transparency, and sharing ideas freely. No gatekeeping, no jargon, just open conversations and practical wisdom passed around like biscuits in the staffroom.

  • Three women walking together, dressed in colorful modern fashion

    Community

Teaching can feel lonely, but it doesn’t have to be. We’re here to create a village where educators lift each other up, swap wisdom, and celebrate the wins (big and small).

    Support

Everyone needs a helping hand sometimes. Our support is practical, realistic, and rooted in real classrooms: you will always feel backed up, not boxed in.

I wish I had this when I started in Reception last year, or had you to speak to so as to gain a really good overview of what an adults role looks like in Reception. I feel I wouldn't have been as overwhelmed with this at the start of my EYFS journey! I appreciated all the links to paperwork as well as the suggested reading lists and resources. The course has helped me to spot what I now need to implement and given me ideas about how to support my staff who are new to early years. Thank you for putting this on, I loved the informal and friendly nature of the sessions. Also the lengths weren't overwhelming as you find in other similar courses. I would absolutely recommend it to any new to reception teacher, with the idea of returning to it regularly throughout the year.

I chose to complete the 'Leading the Early Years' course as I have completed previous courses with Primary Steps and found them to be incredibly helpful. I love how this course is broken down into 3 parts so that the information is provided in manageable chunks and allows me to prioritise workload. The content is clear and well explained, whilst maintaining pace and depth. The linked resources are brilliant time savers and support with putting the theory into practice.

I thoroughly enjoyed working through this course, and I found the information very accessible to engage with.

I found the course highly informative on a range of topics, and definitely feel more confident with the processes of supporting children with SEND.

Thanks so much for this. It is exactly what I have been looking for to present in a staff meeting after Easter, as we are currently looking at Subject Leaders roles and their understanding of EYFS. It was very easy to follow and I am sure staff will have lots of useful questions to ask the EYFS team once they have listened to it themselves.
